Digital Production Process
GA has been exploring digitalization technology since its establishment. From the txt format at the beginning to large-scale database today, GA has been improving its production technology constantly and leading the direction of the industry.
Today, GA has already formed a well-developed production process with multiple patented technologies and a diversified high-quality system of digitalization for modern and contemporary newspapers and books as well as multimedia database products.
Processing technique is the foundation of production quality and efficiency. After years of reform and improvement, GA’s processing technique has reached the level of almost perfection.
1) Layout recognition and reconstruction
Key technology in page processing of newspaper, periodical and book; able to restore and reconstruct font face, font size and font color.
2) Internet-based search engine on resource-sharing dual platform
Online version of GA reading platform, compatible with both Acrobat reader and IE Explorer; typing in the key word enables reflection on both platform. Enables users (LAN and Internet) to browse and search for the purpose of resource sharing. There’s management function over user authority with a well-developed data security system.
3) An unique proofreading technique with double editing and triple proofreading
Since applied into production in 1992, GA has finished data production of over 100 billion Chinese characters with this technique. It has become a routine technique in GA’s production, to make sure the input quality to be in line with publishing requirements.
4) Digital encryption technology
Including database encryption, PDF encryption, IP address limits and registration code limits.
5) Language material analyzing and error correction
Re-analyze the identified data with GA's own resource of language material to detect error and perform correction.
6) National new categorizing technology
GA has first applied the new categorizing technology in the project of Guangxi Daily, established the basic operating process for categorization, developed search platform with categories and realized multiple functions of the technology.
7) GA character forming technology
GA’s character forming technology is compatible with various reading platforms and different digital file formats, able to generate vector font that has no jaggies even when zoomed in.
8) Background layer retrieval
Establish double-layer structure with scanned image and layout reconstruction that enables positioning of key word through the layer of scanned image, which is suitable for the production of old newspapers and books.
9) Production tool for multiple formats of digital file
Multiple formats including PDF, HTML, XML, EPUB, LATEX, GLASSBOOK, SPFTBOOK, EBOOK, APABI, etc.
In addition to Head Office in Changsha, GA has five branch offices respectively in Beijing, Shandong, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and the USA, with over 1,300 employees majoring in Computer Science, foreign languages, Chinese, Library and Intelligence, Artistic Designing, etc. GA has a production base of over 32,000 sq.m. with an annual production capacity of 25 billion Chinese characters, which is the largest production base in China for digitalization. In the past 20 years, GA has accomplished over 100 large-scale database, over 1,000 newspapers and hundreds of thousand e-books.
